my letter to Markandey katju..

Dear Sir,
I would like to thank you for reminding us that 90% of Indians are fools. I completely agree with you . Indians don't realize that their foolishness is making life difficult for many people in India.I also agree with your statement that a lot of hue and cry is created only when something happens in a big city like Delhi while they turn a blind eye to so many other problems that haunt our nation .Most of the Indians are not aware how this foolishness of caste system, dowry ,female foeticide etc. affect their own lives. They just read about them in newspapers and they forget it later thinking that that it is not their concern.

I was a cool college going kid like everyone else not bothered about the problems in our society.Indians don't react until something affects them directly. Let me tell you how the foolishness of Indians is affecting people .

CASTE SYSTEM: - I was not even aware of this term when i was in school. i was busy in my own world during my college life.Problem started when one of my friends is looking for a bride in an online matrimonial site. There are very few girls in his caste and he could not find a perfect match for him in his caste. So he started searching for girls in other castes. But the sad part is even these so called  modern women  and their parents(modern only in attire and not in thoughts) have so much caste feeling  that they seem to be reluctant to talk to a person of a different caste.   Indians boast of UNITY IN DIVERSITY so proudly but the fact is there is no unity at all .Indians are a bunch of fools who confine themselves to such ridiculous things like caste ,religion and what not. And even if someone finds a girl of his choice ,they are welcomed by honour killings or some other harassment. Because of this caste and religious sentiments our choices are being restricted...

FEMALE FOETICIDE : -This ultimately leads to the decline in sex ratio .You must be thinking whats in it for me if the sex ratio declines . Very few girls for a large number of boys. I studied in an engineering college  and in my college out of a total 429 seats in my batch there were only 70 girl students. That means 359 boys and 70 girls. There was so much competition if anyone wants to go out on a date with a girl. You may think that that it is a trivial issue that is confined to just a college goer .But if you see the college as a social structure ,as a part of this society you can extrapolate and u will realize the gravity of the situation.Interaction between men and women is necessary for emotional maturity.Men don't know how to deal with women and in response they resort to violence.Domestic violence, sexual crimes against women are all because of the frustration  present in our male dominated society. Our own actions are resulting in crimes against women.

DOWRY :- Dowry still exists which results in the preference for a male child. Even some women support dowry because they say that they had given dowry during their marriage and so the tradition must continue. If a family is having a boy and a girl  and they cannot afford their daughter's marriage they will ask their son to marry first so that he can get enough money in the form of dowry and this will in turn has a spill over effect. We don't know where it starts and where it  ends..This is a vicious circle.Dowry is like corruption and bribery. It has to stop. People instead of educating their children ,try to accumulate wealth since the infancy of girl child.Even if some people  are mature enough to go against dowry other Indians are fools and they insist on dowry.

I wanted to speak my mind out since i am very frustrated with life among these narrow minded foolish people. They are too ignorant to accept their foolishness.IF I SPEAK NOBODY WILL LISTEN BUT IF A PERSON LIKE YOU SPEAKS EVERYONE WILL LISTEN. BECAUSE YOU KNOW I AM JUST A  COMMON MAN AND NOBODY LISTENS TO ME EVEN IF I YELL OUT IN THE OPEN. I SALUTE TO PEOPLE LIKE YOU WHO COME FORWARD BRAVELY TO SPEAK OUT AND TRY TO BRING CHANGE
                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Regards:-
                                                                                                                                                                                                                    BABU RAJENDRA PRASAD SARILLA.,
                                                                                                                                                                                                                     A COMMON MAN.

WOMEN AND PATRIARCHY...

PATRIARCHY-the term that has never been pondered upon is making news recently .People coming out on streets to protest against the crimes against women. The root cause of all these crimes against women is patriarchy,

PATRIARCHY is so ingrained in our society that even women tend to follow it blindly after all women are also a part of our society.

ALL MEN ARE ALIKE - say women . But is it possible to know all men .This generalisation of a man's behaviour tends to result in a stereotypical view about men..

Men who are sensitive and expressive are treated with contempt by women. In most of the cases women consider such men as boring and not worthy of having any kind of interaction.

A woman always chooses a man better than her in every aspect. They see relationship between men and women as a form of domination. And by choosing someone better than them as their life partner they tend to justify this domination.

I am not saying that women should not choose men better than them but i am merely pointing out the fact that many men and even women see relationship as a form of domination. In most of the cases a man is reluctant to choose a woman better than him and invariably a woman is equally reluctant to choose a man who is not better than her. This is patriarchal mindset.

When it comes to commodification of a woman ,it is true to some extent that media is responsible for it but it is also important to look at  various levels in our society like school, college and office.

College is a microcosm of our society. In college girls hangout with popular boys instead of making their own efforts to become popular on their own . They tend to commodify themselves as an object by being with someone popular. Here they do not realize that their own identity is at risk.

The preconceived notion that a guy gets a girl only if he is perfect turns into something like girls don't hangout with imperfect men which in turn leads us to believe that women do not have a identity of their own therefore they associate themselves with someone perfect..

"BEHIND EVERY MAN THERE IS A SUCCESSFUL WOMAN"-  Woman here is in the background and not a main player here . It also says that woman is a commodity that comes along with success.Women are always behind successful men..Can't women be successful on their own .

Women worry about their looks so much because there is so much pressure on them to look good. .They try their best to look good. But they never ask themselves this one simple question. " Why should i look good all the time?."

Beauty parlours- the one place that many women visit don't realize that they are making themselves a commodity by projecting the view that it is very essential for women to look good.

Even a very intelligent girl with average looks does not get proper attention whereas a very good looking girl grabs all eye balls even if she is the dumbest dumb person on this planet. This needs to be changed.

Patrirachy is not entirely a male domain . Even some women are responsible for the continuation of this patriarchal mindset .Women should start questioning these patriarchal values instead of bowing down to them.Only then there will be a fair society for men and women.
